James Langabeer is an experienced executive and consultant, passionate about helping leaders make more informed strategic decisions. Trained as a financial decision scientist and behavioral economist, he is a prominent researcher in consumer psychology and decision-making. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Yellowstone Research, an independent business and financial advisory, and a tenured Professor at UT Houston.
His strategic and financial insights have been featured in Oprah, Forbes, MoneyGeek, NerdWallet, Success, Texas Monthly, NBC, Fox, CBS News, and NPR among others, and he has published well over 125 peer-reviewed journal articles and 7 books. As CEO or COO, he has taken two startups from concept to successful companies, and has launched multiple healthcare programs which have garnered national acclaim. He has advised top firms such as Wendy's, Dunkin' Donuts, Digi, and MD Anderson Cancer Center, and partners with leaders to enhance capabilities in market research, performance improvement, and strategic planning, sparking innovation and accelerating growth. He is a former national chair of American Heart Association Quality Committee, and sits on multiple advisory boards. He holds a PhD in Management/Decision Science from the University of Lancaster in England, an MBA from Baylor University, and an undergraduate in Business and Marketing with minors in Economics and Sociology. He also holds the ChFC® and CMA certifications, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), and is a SEC/FINRA Registered Investment Advisor.
